i was in new york city with everyone who is americorps with me. there was a terrorist attack planned and somehow, it was going to help for all of us to go to the top of one of the skyscrapers. it was late at night and we all got into a room that was also an elevator and began the long trip to the top of the building. there were refrigerators everywhere in the room/elevator and i suggested that we turn them onto their sides so they wouldn't topple over on us. no one would listen to me and the building started to sway and lean. i have no idea how we were helping in any way. i wished i was far away from the city in the country, but i knew that the attack would hurt everyone everywhere.

then my dream cut to a huge house in the country where a king and his family lived. it was christmas eve and they were having dinner on the lawn. the king was announcing that all of his children were engaged and was introducing their fiancees and fiances. one of his children was lloyd from undeclared. the king didn't realize there was going to be an attack, but his children did. suddenly, i realized that this was an x-men movie and that the "terrorists" were actually the u.s. military planning an attack to rid the world mutants. and all of the people in americorps were actually mutants. some of the kings children were mutants but he didn't realize it. it turns out that he wasn't their original father, that the real king had been killed by giant magical swans that lived in the forrest. the real king had gone into the pond they lived in, which was surrounded by a ring of huge beautiful fir trees, and tried to kill them. in self-defense, the swans who were good, had killed the king, who was actually a little evil, and the queen had them killed. the current king was just a stock king brought in to keep the appearance of normality in the kingdom (which was somewhere in the u.s.) . the youngest son started to argue that this wasn't the plot of an x-men movie, that it was stolen from the last harry potter movie. i couldn't remember anything about the x-men or harry potter movies so i decided when i woke up i was going to have to watch them both to figure out which one was happening.

also, at some point, i had been taken photographs of the tentacles of a giant squid and a few octopi.
